Games Over the Weekend:

Congratulations on our teams for their efforts in the recent games. Yesterday and today, our players demonstrated commendable skills and sportsmanship. Let's carry this positive momentum into the upcoming competitions. Read on for the coaches's recap and insights.

14U Blue Team—Coach Steven

Game 1: 1-11 Loss to Stanford Gold

This was a challenging game against a formidable opponent after a long break away from games. Obviously, we had some rust to shake off, but there were some bright spots!

The team had spots of great defense, especially in the second half. Brody Pfeffer had double-digit saves and assisted on our only goal.

Game 2: 19-5 Win vs. Stanford White

During this game, we looked more like ourselves as we played intense team defense and scored on many counterattacks. Eight players scored, while Max Weiss led the team with four goals.

Brody also had another great game, securing double-digit saves and nearly double-digit assists.

Playing back-to-back games is always challenging but especially tough after taking a long break. The team managed to stay engaged and work together even as fatigue set in. The development throughout the day was very encouraging!

16U White Team—Coach Adam

Game 1: 11-7 win vs. MB United B

The team had a solid first game with a win, scoring 11-7. The team had strong chemistry, calling drives, and good passing/shooting.

Game 2: 5-13 loss vs. SJ Express Black

The second game was rough. The app said we were playing Express Purple at 12:20 but were scheduled to play at 11:30 against SJ Express Black. Luckily, officials and other coaches understood the confusion, and the SJ Express Black team gave us three players to use while ours were coming in. We had the whole team back and in the water before the 2nd quarter ended. Unfortunately, it was a loss, 5-13.

Highlights for today: Vesta, LJ, Isaac, and both Dylans had lots of good passes and assists working with each other. Dylan Fisher executed lots of steals. Alex Dujmavic took really good shots. Trevor did terrific as a goalie for the first time and has expressed interest in working with Michael and Aiden to become a better goalie.

16U Blue Team—Coach Steven

Game 1: 7-11 Loss to Tri-Valley

We had some rust to shake off after the break, but we were otherwise competitive the whole game. We had a lot of good offensive opportunities that we couldn't convert, but we were glad to have many good chances.

Once we got back into rhythm, we had an excellent defensive second half and outscored the opposing team.

Game 2: 18-7 Win vs. SJ Express Silver

The second back-to-back game went much better as we got back into a groove. We established an early lead and held it throughout—contributions from everyone allowed to play at a fast tempo and with much intensity. Ten different players scored in this game! Michael Poirier also subbed as goalie for today's games and had nearly double-digit saves in both games and many assists.

Overall, we showed significant instances of teamwork and determination today. Thankfully, our mistakes were due to something other than fatigue or poor conditioning. They were primarily due to common mental errors after a long time away from training and games. Playing back-to-back games is always highly taxing, but everyone played at a high level until the last minute.

18U Team—Coach Bruno

18U had a pretty easy win against Burlingame. Everyone had good playing time and was able to resume building some team chemistry after the long break.

Tri-Valley was a very physical and "aged" team, but our boys battled for the entire game, showing grit and playing a pretty good water polo. The score was 8-8 with 4/5 minutes left, and we ended up losing 11-8 when the fatigue took over.

The coaches are very happy—great job!
